Who goes to the young carers project?

Other young carers aged between 11-17 years attend the young carers project, across Blackburn with Darwen. All ethnicities and communities attend too! 

What? Happens there?

There are many things that help and support you through the young carers project! Such as;

  • Chill nights which are once a month
  • Trips out to Blackpool and other fun places!
  • 1-1 sessions, were you can talk about all your troubles and we will give you advice and support!
  • Training such as self defence and first aid!
  • Be able to join the Young Carers Youth Bank and young carers forums
  • .If you need other services we can help you access them! (e.g. brook or lifeline)
  • Fundraising for the young carers project!

  Why? should I join?

  • Because you will have fun!You will make friends with other young carers
  • Because we want to support you in your caring role
  • You can get a break from your situation at home
  • You can talk to the staff in CONFIDENTIAL 1-1 sessions.
  • You can gain new skills by taking part in training and workshops. (First aid, food hygiene, self defence)

  Where? Are you?

We are based at the carers centre on oakenhurst road. With our very own young carers chill room, with a pool table, dart board and a TV! Also pictures and acheivments are pinned all around the room to show how great all the young carers are! 

When? Do we meet?

We meet once a month for the chill nights, weekly we do a 6 month review. And also continuous support whenever you need it!

 How? Will I get there?

If you have no transport facilities to attend to project we can always pick you up and drop you off!
